Mr Shu Uemura was originally a set-designer and artist in the theatre during the 1950’s, but when his skills were called upon one day as the MUA for a performance, he wowed everyone with his talents. From then on, Shu Uemura worked internationally as a make-up and hair artist for film and theatre in Hollywood, eventually developing his own oil-based products teaming traditional Japanese recipes and natural ingredients with scientific innovation. His make-up range fast became a premium professional range and soon after his hair-care range followed, building a reputation for a Tokyo-inspired, cool simplicity.
